The Challenge of Hybrid Materials
Machining epoxy river tables requires cutting across two vastly different materials in a single pass: dense hardwood (Walnut, Oak) and brittle polymeric epoxy resin.
Tooling & Surface Finishing Checklist
- Surface Slabs with Insert Flycutters: Use razor-sharp 4-sided carbide inserts with a 0.2mm - 0.5mm stepover per pass.
- Feed Rate: Maintain a brisk 4,000 – 6,000 mm/min at 16,000 RPM to ensure the bit does not dwell in the epoxy and cause heat softening.
Remember that the CNC tooling industry is competitive, so standing out with high-quality products, excellent customer service, and innovation will be key to your success. If you’re looking for specific advice or information on certain aspects of manufacturing CNC router tools, feel free to ask!
